Giving Disadvantage Youth Chance to Play

Beach Soccer For All Introduction

“Beach Soccer for All” is part of the soon to be formed Beach Soccer Youth Foundation.  Currently, “Beach Soccer for All” is working in partnership with other non-profits including Andàrè Fortè to give kids the opportunity to participate and learn the benefits of playing the world’s most popular sport on the beach.

Details:

Pro-Am Beach Soccer Tournament

Goal: Raise $100,000.00

How many it effects: 50 teams and a minimum of 500 kids, plus their families and relatives who take part in event.  This will enable 25% of our total event to be disadvantaged youth competing.

Costs:    Entry fee             $450

                Uniforms             $100

 Hotel                    $1,200

                Transportation  $250

                                Total:    $2,000.00 per team

What’s so:

Kids have played for free in previous beach soccer tournaments by being “fill-ins” for brackets which were missing a team, or where we could create a bracket which benefited the tournaments better.  The goal has always been to give disadvantaged youth the chance to participate, but it has been limiting.  In 2009, the event inevitably will sell out in its fifth year.  We are scaling back the number of fields and beaches used so, this opportunity will be lost.  Many kids will never even know the possibility existed.

Predictable Future if no Action:

The predictable future is clear.  The disadvantaged youth who have had the opportunity to play will lose their chance to participate and no new possibilities will be able to be created for new teams due to simple supply and demand.  The event will fill to capacity with teams from all over the California and neighboring states.  The event in Santa Cruz which this project revolves around will be shrinking from 18 fields to 14 fields narrowing the chance for teams to be able to participate due to city and logistical constraints.  This will increase the demand from teams who can afford to participate and eliminate all others.

Way it could be if there was a New Possibility:

The new possibility of forming the non-profit “Beach Soccer Youth Foundation” in conjunction with Andàrè Fortè, and this project will be the creation of an organization focused on raising money for disadvantaged youth to participate in these unique and exciting events all over the state and country.  It will lay the foundation for developing players to play beach soccer at the highest level eventually benefitting our U.S. National team whose players are always present at these tournaments.

In addition, and more importantly it will create a joyful family environment at the beach with family/friends which will; increase the child’s self-esteem, give opportunity to play more and develop new skills and ideas about how to play the game, and give mentoring opportunities in regards to interacting with national team players on the beach and other speakers and guests who the players could be exposed to.

We are looking for anyone who would be interested in working on this project moving forward in your community and beyond.  Please contact Tighe O'Sullivan to find the proper way to move forward.
